Rubey Brief September 2025
Major players embrace tokenisation: Rubey was right all along
We are proud to see the art and finance world evolving towards the vision Rubey has championed since day one. Thomas Kaplan recently announced that his world-renowned Leiden Collection (including 17 Rembrandts and a Vermeer) will be fractionalised and prepared for an IPO (The Art Newspaper, 22/09). The fact that the largest private collection of Dutch Golden Age art embraces tokenisation confirms that Rubey’s model is the right direction forward.
Public museums follow: from Ensor to new models
Public institutions also demonstrate how urgently innovative financing is needed. In a recent article on Creatives Unite, Carmen Willems, director of KMSKA, underlined that traditional acquisition budgets are insufficient, making alternatives indispensable.
Rubey’s pioneering project with James Ensor’s Carnaval de Binche showed the way: 250 co-investors became the owners of the painting and placed it on a 10-year loan to the museum, ensuring both public access and long-term cultural impact.
Meanwhile, the work is now on international display for the first time, currently featured in Warsaw at the National Museum’s exhibition Black Carnival. Ensor / Wojtkiewicz. Rubey has been invited to the official opening event on October 3 in Warsaw and will be present to celebrate this important milestone.
Looking ahead: KMSKA HERstory
Building on this momentum, Rubey is proud to announce a new joint initiative with KMSKA: KMSKA HERstory. This project will enrich the museum’s collection with masterpieces by Belgian and international female artists, a historic correction with lasting cultural impact.
Save the Date: October 13, 2025, during the launch event we will unveil all detailsof this exciting new project. We have reserved 5 free seats exclusively for our newsletter readers (for you and a +1). If you’d like to attend, please reach out directly to maarten@rubey.be.
Shaping the Fourth Pillar of Wealth
The momentum around tokenisation of art is only accelerating, from private collections to public museums. Rubey is proud to be shaping this Fourth Pillar of Wealth.
Looking ahead, KMSKA HERstory will be the third and final multiple asset project (MAP) Rubey launches in 2025, following Echoes for the Future (digital art, launched in March) and Autoworld Icons (collectible cars, launched in April).
Towards 2026, we will introduce our first series of single asset projects (SAPs), starting in December 2025 with a debut launch. Ahead of this, our website and investor dashboard will undergo a major update to make token purchasing, handling, and trading smoother and more accessible than ever.
Together, we continue building the future of cultural impact investing.
